VA CHAPLAINS
VA Chaplains
VA Chaplains – Comfort, Support, Lead, Advocate, Counsel, Mediate and Educate
Primary Role of VA Hospital’s Chaplains are to:
- Ensure that Veteran patients (both inpatient and outpatient) receive appropriate clinical pastoral care as desired or requested by the Veteran.
- To ensure that hospital, domiciliary and nursing home patients’ constitutional right to free exercise of religion is protected. What this means is that it is the Veteran’s choice as to whether to meet with a chaplain or any religious person.
- To protect patients from having religion imposed on them.
It is always the Veteran’s choice.

CROSSROADS
Meeting Veterans’ Spiritual Needs at End of Life
For our military Veterans, their time in combat may have had a profound impact on their spirituality. Many Veterans are able to push aside these feelings for years, but as they approach end of life, the feelings of spiritual distress return.
Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care chaplains have received specialized training from the Department of Veteran Affairs on providing spiritual support to Veterans at end of life. They use both spiritual and life review techniques to help distressed Veterans.

BATTLE BUDDY INFO
Battle-Buddy Info is an online Directory of Military Resources for Active Duty, Veterans and their Caregivers. We list military focused non-profits and resources that provide direct assistance to veterans and active duty personnel, in a user-friendly format. We work hard to maintain relevant information and resources, not only from non-profit organizations or government sources, but from peer support networks, Caregiver Blogs, books of interest as well as general topics related to issues the men and women who serve our nation face when returning to civilian life.
SPIRIT AND SOUL
Spirituality is your experience of how you relate to whatever is greater than yourself. Having a sense of purpose and meaning in your life can provide strength in difficult times.
GET-HELP Volunteers of America
Volunteers of America Southeast offers direct human-care services, affordable housing, faith-based resource programs, and community outreach.
Some of our services provide care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health issues, substance abuse, low-income seniors, and the homeless.
WE HONOR VETERANS (WHV)
Spiritual and Pastoral Care in the Veterans Health Administration
Spiritual and pastoral care must be available to Veterans as part of the health care provided at medical centers, clinics, domiciliary, and other VA facilities. The type and extent of spiritual and pastoral care provided must be commensurate with the needs, desires, and voluntary consent of the individual Veteran. Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) Directors and facility Directors are responsible for ensuring that patients’ health care needs are met.
VETERANS FAMILY UNITED
